We’re excited to hear from General Practitioners who wants to make a difference in ADHD care.
I’m writing to you today with respect to the ongoing management and complexity of ADHD as a neuro developmental and neuro behavioural disorder. As many of you are aware, the complexity of ADHD and the community expectations on appropriate management of ADHD within the school system, health system, and allied health support is increasing.
Over the last 3 months I have partnered with ADHD Lifespan Clinic with the plan to assist and empower GPs in Queensland and Northern NSW who have an interest in ADHD to work on a more supported co-management model with patients. I am hoping such an approach will allow me to reduce my clinic waitlist times and open up appointment space within my Southport and Brisbane clinic to manage and assist you with the more complex children with ADHD, co-morbidities in ADHD and neurodivergence.
The objective of the ADHD lifespan clinic is to provide a family and whole of life management for children, families, and adults affected by ADHD, while providing a one stop shop on education, diagnosis, management, and support. The aim is to create a care model that involves patients, general practitioners, paediatricians and all therapists and educators involved in the care of ADHD.
Working in partnership together with ADHD Lifespan clinic would include:
- Structured care pathways: Assisting you manage stable ADHD presentations with support from Paediatricians and Psychiatrists for complex cases.
- Training and support: The provision of ADHD-specific training, clinical resources, and ongoing peer support to help you deliver confident, high-quality care.
- Multidisciplinary teamwork: Join a network of professionals including psychologists, paediatricians, and psychiatrists – with regular case reviews and team meetings.
- Community impact: Assisting in identifying and supporting ADHD early in your local community, including school-aged children and adults.
- Professional development: Opportunities to expand your ADHD expertise, contribute to care innovation, and participate in outreach initiatives.
ADHD Lifespan clinic has also developed the ADHD Training Academy, with the aim to provide practical, medically informed ADHD training for anyone who teaches, supports, treats, supervises, or cares for people with ADHD. For General Practitioners, the ADHD Training Academy provides a weekly Community of Practice, which is a specialist clinician led meeting where GPs and medical professionals discuss ADHD cases, latest research, deepen their understanding, and strengthen best practice. The Community of Practice hours can be counted towards your annual professional development points.
I would be keen to discuss the benefits of partnering with ADHD Lifespan Clinic and myself, and how it would empower you to provide better ADHD care to your patients.
Please fill in the following Expression of Interest form. I look forward to our initial call to discuss further.
Best regards,
Prof Jeff Fletcher
