ADHD Training for Pharmacists

Building Practical Skills for Supporting People with ADHD

1 hour 20 minutes · Self-paced online course

More people are being diagnosed with ADHD than ever before, and pharmacists are supporting them every day.

As one of the most accessible healthcare professionals, pharmacists are uniquely positioned to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with ADHD and their families.

Pharmacists routinely support people living with chronic health conditions such as diabetes, asthma and high blood pressure. Increasingly, they are also supporting people with ADHD and their families. This course explores how the same informed, proactive and patient-centred approach can be applied to ADHD care.

As awareness and diagnosis of ADHD continue to grow, pharmacists are increasingly being asked questions about treatment, medication and day-to-day management. Yet opportunities for pharmacist-specific ADHD education have historically been limited.

This upcoming practical professional development program equips pharmacists with the knowledge, confidence and tools needed to provide informed, person-centred ADHD care.

Why This Course Matters

Many pharmacists find themselves asking:

  • Why does this patient keep forgetting to collect their scripts?
  • How do I explain ADHD medication to a worried parent?
  • What should I be monitoring beyond simply supplying medication?
  • Why doesn’t the medication seem to be working as expected?
  • When should I refer, and who should I contact?
  • Are natural therapies worth recommending?

Missed appointments, overdue vaccinations and neglected health conditions are often consequences of ADHD rather than carelessness.

When these challenges are misunderstood, patients can become disengaged from treatment and healthcare services.

This course helps pharmacists better understand ADHD, communicate effectively with patients and families, and play an active role in improving treatment outcomes.
