We are a group of doctors with training in ADHD care who are dedicated to helping people manage their ADHD condition.
We are committed to making ADHD diagnosis, treatment and management available to all who need it.
The ADHD Lifespan Clinic has developed a tiered, complexity-based model of care that matches patients to the clinician best suited to their needs, enabling more efficient use of scarce specialist resources while maintaining high-quality, evidence-based care. The model is underpinned by an integrated Community of Practice and ADHD training academy that support workforce development and ongoing clinical supervision.
Patients are triaged according to clinical complexity. Approximately 10% can be managed by GPs with foundational ADHD knowledge, 60% by GPs who have undertaken additional ADHD-specific training and work within a shared-care framework, and 30% require ongoing management by paediatricians or psychiatrists because of greater diagnostic complexity, significant comorbidity, or treatment challenges.
Within this model, GPs prescribe and monitor stimulant medications in accordance with regulatory requirements and agreed shared-care protocols, while receiving ongoing support from ADHD specialists through case consultation, education and peer learning. Among patients initially referred for specialist ADHD assessment and management, approximately 70% were ultimately able to have their care transferred to general practice following specialist review and stabilisation.
By recognising ADHD as a common neurodevelopmental condition that can often be effectively managed within primary care, with specialist support available for more complex presentations, the model aims to reduce specialist bottlenecks, expand access to treatment, and provide a scalable framework for ADHD care across Australia.
